Things learned this week:
1. Don't volunteer to teach something that you know nothing about. Unless maybe you have notes from the previous year's teacher who happens to be a very organized person.
2. Things you cannot do in a sling:
Motions to camp songs
Belay
Climb
Facilitate almost anything
Swim
Wash your hair(are you ready for this???)
I had a great cabin this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had 12 junior campers and an SRT (sort of like a junior counselor), and all of them were amazing. They were better behaved than my teen campers had been.
Things started off a little rocky, though. Not because of the campers....
see, um, it's like this...
Sunday midnight... ten girl staff members... water guns... yeah...
This is how the guy counselors responded:
1 fought back in this awesome all-out war in Woodside with silly string!
1, after getting attacked, turned around and helped us get the others
1 hid in the bathroom
2 got really, really mad(if you knew them at all, you would be able to tell which one did what. They're so predictable!)
the hard part was being sincere with my apology the next day.
after recovering from that, our campers came and the week started. About, like, one hour into the week, i got hurt. It was one of those things where you have to act like a crazy tribe leader and get points for your tribe. All I did was turn a cartwheel, but my costume was restraining, so I landed wrong and hyperextended my elbow. So I was in a sling and pain for a couple days. It still hurts to move it certain ways.
But my campers were SO great and my SRT so helpful, that we didn't miss a beat. I find it hard to believe that two weeks is all that remains of camp, but I am enjoying each moment and am grateful for the weekends. I'm facing exhaustion, but God keeps me going and I appreciate all of my fellow workers. Hope all of you are well!

I'm glad to hear that you had a good week (physical restrictions notwithstanding), and that your arm seems to be healing. I'm looking forward to seeing you again in a few weeks.
I'll try to call you this coming weekend, so be ready. ;) Love ya!
Dear Heather,
I'm glad your arm is getting better and SO glad that you had such a good cabin during this week when you were partially incapacitated. So what were you trying to teach that you know nothing about? Shooting a water gun? How not to swim with a sling on your arm? How to have someone else wash your hair when you can't? Or was it something much more spiritual?
We look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks, and we continue to pray for you, of course! Don't burn out. You can finish well with God's help.
Love, Mom
What I'm teaching is Orienteering as an action skill. I'm learning a little about it though!
